With the development of media and technology, Telkom University students have created an innovative tool called I-CERYOS (IoT Coffee Cherry to Compost). This innovation is an IoT-based planting media accelerator machine made from coffee cherry waste. The tool was created by three students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Telkom University: Muhammad Aflah as the Team Leader, Figo Ramadhan F.R, and Difa Yudha Pratama, under the guidance of Angga Rusdinar S.T., M.T., Ph.D. The research took place in Stamplat Girang Village, Ciparay Village, Indragiri Village, Rancabali District, Bandung Regency, Ciwidey, West Java, where most of the community works as coffee and tea farmers.
The idea behind this innovation is a digital solution for coffee and tea farmers to obtain fertilizer, given the limited access to the village. With this innovation, farmers can shorten the fermentation time of coffee cherries. The monitoring process will take place over two weeks. Once the fertilizer is ready for use in planting, a green LED will light up, and the LCD will indicate that the fertilizer is ready to be used by the farmers.
To address waste management issues, a lecturer from Telkom University, Faculty of Applied Sciences (FIT), Agus Ganda Permana, M.T., has developed a product called an Incinerator, a waste treatment tool that uses combustion processes to reduce volume and increase waste safety. The challenge faced by the community in Pagerwangi Village is the accumulation of waste at temporary and final disposal sites. The imbalance between the volume of household waste and the collection schedule has led to waste piling up. Therefore, the presence of this incinerator is seen to break down waste more quickly.
The development of this product and the incinerator has also garnered attention from industry. The Director of PT Galura Pajajaran Teknologi (GAPTEK), Dudung Rahmat, S.T., stated that the collaboration between PT GAPTEK and BTP is a form of industrial innovation strategy that involves the role of academics
