Through the SDGs Report 2024, Telkom University reinforces its strong commitment to sustainable development by publishing progress on SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, both individually and as part of its comprehensive annual sustainability report. This initiative demonstrates the university’s dedication to ensuring universal access to clean, safe, and sustainable water resources while promoting environmental responsibility and technological innovation.
In 2024, Telkom University implemented the Clean Water Facility (SAB) Moneva Program, a flagship initiative designed to improve community access to clean water and sanitation infrastructure through a combination of technology, education, and community collaboration. The program conducted monitoring and evaluation (Moneva) at 17 SAB locations across Indonesia, in partnership with local communities. Results showed that most water sources met national standards for daily use, while several sites achieved drinking-water quality. These findings reflect not only improved public health outcomes but also stronger community capacity in sustainable water resource management.
Beyond infrastructure, Telkom University engaged in community education programs that promoted proper sanitation practices, water conservation, and system maintenance. These initiatives empowered local communities to independently manage their water facilities, fostering long-term sustainability and resilience against water scarcity.
In the field of research and innovation, Telkom University produced several impactful studies that align with the goals of SDG 6. Among them are:
- A study on the production of alkaline and acid water through solar-powered electrolysis, introducing renewable energy-based solutions for clean water production.
- A project developing a smart water quality monitoring system using long-range IoT technology, enabling real-time analysis and management of water quality.
