In accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals 7 (SDGs 7) concerning University measures towards affordable and clean energy, Telkom University (Tel-U) constructs new buildings and renovates existing ones within the Telkom University campus in accordance with established standards and policies.
The construction of buildings adheres to Government Regulation No. 36 of 2005 regarding the Implementation of Law No. 28 of 2002 on Building Constructions. The relevant articles regarding energy efficiency standards in this government regulation are as follows:
1. Article 40 Paragraph 3, which relates to the application of ventilation systems while considering energy-saving principles in building constructions.
2. Article 41 Paragraph 4, which pertains to the fulfillment of lighting system requirements. Every building must have natural and/or artificial lighting, including emergency lighting, in accordance with its functions.
3. Article 47 Paragraph 3c, which focuses on the use of construction materials that do not negatively impact the environment, aiming to create buildings that are harmonious with their surroundings.
4. Article 50 Paragraph 2c, which addresses indoor temperature and humidity levels and recommends air conditioning systems that consider energy-saving principles and environmental sustainability.
The internal building construction and renovation standards are detailed in the Rector's Decree on Telkom University's Sustainable Campus Policy, No. KR.0175/HKM5/SPS/2019, as described in attachment 7:
1. Adhering to energy-efficient building construction standards.
2. Implementing energy efficiency through practical actions, including using energy-efficient and environmentally friendly electrical equipment in all areas and activities within Telkom University's campus.
3. Ensuring that all electrically powered equipment is not in operation when there is no activity.
4. Identifying and analyzing energy usage to achieve efficiency in every location within Telkom University's campus.
