Commitment to Renewable Transition

As a concrete step toward this goal, Telkom University is gradually transitioning its energy use from fossil fuels to renewable sources such as solar and wind energy. The university’s sustainability roadmap emphasizes investment in clean energy infrastructure, reforestation, and green technology innovation. This initiative is further strengthened through active participation in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, where Telkom University continues to improve its performance in renewable energy adoption and sustainable campus operations.

Investment in Green Education and Research

To ensure that this transition is both impactful and sustainable, Telkom University has redirected part of its research funding and investment portfolio toward the development of renewable energy (Energi Baru Terbarukan/EBT).

As part of this commitment, the university launched the Bachelor of Energy Systems Engineering (S1 Teknik Sistem Energi) program — an academic initiative designed to integrate renewable energy concepts into both education and applied research. This program equips future engineers and innovators with the knowledge and skills needed to lead the global clean energy transition.

Collaboration and Sustainable Vision

Telkom University also collaborates with key organizations such as the Indonesian Renewable Energy Society (METI) to accelerate the implementation of renewable energy technologies, promote research exchange, and enhance policy development for sustainable power generation. Through these partnerships, the university encourages collective action toward reducing carbon emissions and building a cleaner energy ecosystem for Indonesia.

Conclusion

By combining education, research, and investment in renewable energy, Telkom University demonstrates a holistic approach to achieving 100% renewable energy reliance. This pledge not only reflects the university’s leadership in sustainable transformation but also inspires other institutions to follow in advancing Indonesia’s journey toward a low-carbon and climate-resilient future.
