Telkom University Encourages Women’s Participation in Underrepresented Fields through Inclusive Education Campaigns

1. Campaign: Women in Engineering

The Women in Engineering campaign is a core part of Telkom University’s outreach efforts. It targets young women considering engineering degrees, aiming to break down gender stereotypes that might prevent women from entering technical fields. Through workshops, informational sessions, and support groups, this campaign works to inspire and prepare women for successful careers in engineering. By highlighting the achievements of successful women engineers, Telkom University demonstrates that women have an essential role in shaping the future of technology and innovation. The campaign also provides networking opportunities and resources to help women pursue careers in engineering with confidence and support. For the campaign can be accessed via Youtube.

2. Campaign: Gender Equality in Education

Another vital campaign, Gender Equality in Education, focuses on fostering equal access to high-quality education for all students, irrespective of gender or background. A representative from Telkom University shared the belief that “every student should have equal access to high-quality education no matter where they come from. It also requires that all students be held to the same standards and goals regardless of their circumstances, abilities, or experiences.”

This campaign emphasizes the importance of mainstreaming gender in education by incorporating a gender perspective and placing gender equality goals at the center of development activities. Important pillars of this campaign include:

- Ensuring equal access to education.

- Addressing women’s literacy rates.

- Increasing women’s access to training, science, technology, and further education.

- Creating indiscriminative education and training systems.

- Allocating resources to support educational reform.

- Promoting lifelong learning and professional training opportunities for women.

3. Campaign Through Role Models

Highlighting inspiring role models is another key aspect of Telkom University’s mission to promote gender inclusivity in academia. By showcasing women who have achieved significant milestones, the university aims to inspire the next generation. One example is Amaliyah Rohsari Indah Utami, who successfully graduated from the Women and Leadership Scholarship Program for ASEAN countries. Her story serves as a testament to the potential for women to excel in leadership roles and to succeed in fields often lacking female representation. The detailed information campaign can be seen here

Telkom University’s commitment to promoting gender equality is evident through these initiatives, which are designed to provide the tools, resources, and role models women need to succeed. By fostering an inclusive academic culture, Telkom University aspires to not only address gender disparity but also to contribute to the creation of a more equitable society for future generations.

4. Results
