Telkom University Report On Progress of SDGs 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth

To improve the community economic growth, Telkom University encourages and creates several innovations, such as the development and implementation of cooling machine and sorting system and develops the potential of the local creative economy using AR technology.

Telkom University (Tel-U) students have developed an innovative cooling machine and sorting system. The cooling machine, named IcyRoast, is equipped with a mixer and blower, while the sorting system, called RoastRighteous, is equipped with a color detection sensor. The combination of these two innovations is named RoastMaster.

They explained that this innovation aims to increase productivity in the roasting process and continuously improve the quality of roast beans for coffee MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) partners, particularly in the Alamendah Tourism Village. They also mentioned that the partners reported that RoastMaster significantly helps make the roasting process more productive by shortening the cooling time. Additionally, the quality of the roast beans produced is improved. In addition, they stated that in the future, RoastMaster could become a tool that helps enhance the quality and productivity of coffee MSMEs, both in Alamendah Tourism Village and beyond the Rancabali area.

Telkom University (Tel-U) students have developed an application called ThriftMee, an innovative platform designed to bring together Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) using Augmented Reality (AR) technology to support their businesses. The application is equipped with various features, including a virtual fitting room, homepage, product tracking, selling products, a list of products for sale, profiles, and several other features.

ThriftMee is a smart thrifting application that utilizes preloved local clothing and develops the potential of the local creative economy using AR technology, providing a platform for MSMEs to grow the local creative economy. The app focuses on local thrifting MSMEs that transform used clothing into unique and new items, helping to address environmental issues by applying the concept of sustainable fashion through the extended use of clothing.

Several MSMEs contributed to the ThriftMee team's research, including ReStory and Compassgarage, both based in Bandung, specifically on the floor of The Hallway Space, Pasar Kosambi, Bandung. The virtual fitting room feature in the ThriftMee application is the best solution for modern buyers. This feature allows users to try on clothing items such as shoes, shirts, pants, and outfits virtually in 3D, so they can see how well the products fit their body shape. Thus, the main goal of this feature is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of shopping. Buyers no longer need to travel far to stores or worry about online purchases not fitting them. This feature offers a level of convenience that is highly valued in everyday life. From the publication perspective, in 2023, we have released a total of 251 research publications in accredited journals and conferences related to SDG 8.
