Selective Food Vendor Screening for Quality and Nutrition
Telkom University applies a selective process when choosing food vendor tenants to ensure that every meal sold on campus meets the university’s health and safety standards. Each vendor undergoes an evaluation based on various parameters, including food ingredients, cooking methods, taste quality, menu variety, food presentation, dietary options (vegan, vegetarian, or meat-based), and potential food allergies.
This process helps ensure that the canteen menus remain diverse and balanced, accommodating a wide range of dietary needs while maintaining affordability. Vendors are also encouraged to offer healthy and balanced meals—including vegetarian and vegan dishes—to promote a more sustainable and inclusive eating culture.
The menu and vendor information are transparently listed on the official Telkom University canteen website, where students and staff can view available options, menu updates, and nutritional information before purchasing meals.
Accessible and Student-Friendly Canteens
Across the Telkom University campus, there are 8 canteens that serve as the main dining centers for the academic community. These include the Female Dormitory Canteen, the Faculty of Communication and Business (FKS & FEB) Canteen, the Engineering Canteen, and the Ruang Riung Canteen, each designed to provide a comfortable, clean, and welcoming dining atmosphere.
Currently, more than 60 active food tenantsoperate across these canteens, offering a wide variety of meals—from traditional Indonesian dishes to modern healthy options. Meal prices are maintained affordably, typically ranging from IDR 15,000 to IDR 25,000 per portion, ensuring that nutritious food remains accessible for everyone, regardless of economic background.
This commitment to inclusivity and accessibility reflects Telkom University’s mission to create a campus that prioritizes the well-being of all its members through healthy, diverse, and affordable food options.
Transparent and sustainable food management
As part of its commitment to accountability and inclusivity, Telkom University ensures that menu and tenant information is easily accessible through the official university canteen website. Here, students and staff can view the list of available tenants, menu prices, and details on ingredients or potential allergens.
The university also encourages vendors to adopt sustainable practices, such as reducing food waste, using environmentally friendly packaging, and sourcing fresh local ingredients. These steps align with the university’s broader goal of supporting SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through daily operations on campus.
Conclusion
Through its selective food vendor management, transparent information systems, and accessible canteen facilities, Telkom University demonstrates a comprehensive and proactive approach to promoting a healthy, sustainable, and inclusive food culture on campus. By ensuring that meals are nutritious, affordable, and accessible, the university continues to strengthen the well-being of its academic community while supporting sustainable development goals.
