Telkom University Strengthens Staff Mental Health and Well-Being through Integrated Support Programs

Professional Counseling and Specialized Training

Telkom University regularly organizes professional counseling sessions and mental health workshops focusing on topics such as burnout prevention, anger management, stress regulation, and emotional balance.

A flagship session titled “Help, I’m Burnt Out and Very Angry”,facilitated by dr. Elvyn Gunawan, Sp.KJ psychiatrist, university advisor (dosenwali), and Founder of Mental Hub Indonesia—served as a core activity in 2024. The training equipped staff with coping strategies, emotional intelligence skills, and practical tools to sustain mental endurance in their daily work routines.

Furthermore, the university provides specialized training and consultation services for academic advisors and supervisors (dosenwali) to help them identify early signs of psychological distress and offer initial guidance to colleagues or students in need.

Embedding Mental Health into the Work Culture

Beyond individual sessions, Telkom University cultivates a culture of empathy and mutual care through the Community of Care and Action (CoCA) initiative. This program integrates mental health awareness into the university’s daily operations and events, encouraging open dialogue about well-being.

In 2025, CoCA hosted a series of activities such as “Ngopi Bang: CoCA Well-being Series” (June 12, 2025) and “CoCA Faculty Fit” (May 17, 2025), which reached more than 300 staff participants across various departments. These events included interactive discussions, light physical exercises, and reflection sessions designed to promote teamwork, emotional awareness, and stress relief among employees.

Continuous Health Protection and Digital Support Platforms

Telkom University ensures the long-term mental and physical health protection of all staff members through the BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan programs, in accordance with the Telkom Education Foundation Board of Trustees Decree No. KEP 1267/00DGSHK01YPT/2019, Article 30 Paragraph 2. These programs guarantee social and health security coverage for every employee.

The university also provides access to the Employee Well-being Program (Naluri)—a digital platform offering personalized mental health assessments, counseling sessions, lifestyle recommendations, and wellness tracking. This system enables staff to receive continuous guidance and support, whether through online consultations or direct sessions.

Conclusion

Through its collaboration with Mental Hub Indonesia, the Naluri Well-being Program, and internal initiatives such as CoCA, Telkom University ensures that mental health is not only supported but also celebrated within the workplace. By offering professional counseling, special training, and long-term protection systems, the university fosters a culture of care and balance that aligns with its commitment to Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3) and Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8).
