Bandung – Telkom University is making flexible work a standard part of campus life. Through its sustainable practices remote working policy, the university lets employees work remotely on set days while keeping teaching and services running. Staff spend less time and money on the road, and the campus uses less energy.
A Clear Policy Foundation
Flexible working at Telkom University is based on the Director of Shared Services Regulation No. PDB.0094/01/DGS-HK01/YPT/2024 on Flexible Working Arrangements (FWA) within the Telkom Education Foundation (YPT). The framework recognises three ways of working:
Hybrid Working Across All Four Campuses
Through a memorandum from the Vice Rector for Resources, the university applies a hybrid model at its Bandung, Jakarta, Surabaya and Purwokerto campuses:
Staying Productive and Accountable
Flexibility That Respects Faith and Family
During the national holidays for Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr, the university also allowed employees to work from anywhere. Staff could travel home and observe their faith while services continued. Units were also asked to keep the use of electricity, water, air conditioning and lifts as low as possible during this period.
Conclusion
By making remote working part of its policy and everyday practice, Telkom University supports a better work–life balance for its employees, cuts daily commuting, and lowers campus energy use and emissions. These sustainable practices remote working measures support SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
