Through the SDGs Report 2024, Telkom University reaffirmed its strong commitment to sustainable development by publishing progress against SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, both individually and as part of its annual sustainability report. The university actively supports national food security initiatives through technological innovation, community empowerment, and research-based solutions that enhance agricultural productivity and local economic resilience.
In 2024, Telkom University, in collaboration with Telkom Indonesia, launched a CSR program titled “Sorgumology” in Kampung Sorgum, Bojongmanggu Village, Bandung Regency. This initiative aims to strengthen food security, promote local economic sustainability, and transform the village into an educational tourism destination centered on sorghum cultivation. Through farmer training, mentoring, and the application of IoT-based agricultural technologies, the program successfully improves crop yields, optimizes resource use, and increases the market value of local products. This collaboration directly supports SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) while contributing to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
In addition to community initiatives, Telkom University produced 11 research publications in 2024 focusing on food security, smart agriculture, and sustainable production systems. These studies include the development of IoT-based monitoring for agriculture, deep learning models for crop disease detection, and circular economy practices in food bank supply chains. The university also implemented 21 community service programs related to sustainable agriculture, including hydroponic and aquaponic farming, food bank management, and smart irrigation systems that empower rural communities.
Furthermore, through the Digital Collaboration for Sustainability (DCS) and the SDGs Center, Telkom University promotes cross-sectoral dialogue involving government agencies, NGOs, academia, industries, and communities. Using the penta-helix collaboration model, these dialogues foster innovation in sustainable agriculture and digital solutions to achieve long-term food security.
In summary, through the Publication of SDG Reports – per SDG, Telkom University continues to demonstrate accountability, transparency, and measurable contributions to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), reinforcing its position as a leading SDG-driven institution in Indonesia.
