Pioneering Green Innovation: Telkom University’s Vision for Sustainable Cities

Telkom University also participates in conducting various research and innovative works to develop the concept of safe, inclusive, and sustainable cities, on the transportation side, we develop a Smart Control System and monitoring for Train, Smart Traffic Light for emergency vehicles and a Disaster Emergency System. On the renewable energy sector, we develop a Smart Lighting System to build a green ecosystem. We also develop governance through Smart Village Application for budget allocation.

Driven by Telkom University’s goal to become a green campus, researcher Dr. Muhammad Ary Murti from Telkom University’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering initiated the development of an electrical energy monitoring tool for Green Campus purposes, known as the Intelligent Energy Management System (IEMS). With the advancement of IoT technology, the IoT components integrated into IEMS are considered a solution for real-time and online monitoring of electrical energy consumption. This product comes in several versions, making it suitable for small-scale applications such as homes, dormitories, apartments, and office buildings. Additionally, there is a load control device that can be remotely controlled, managing small electrical loads like TVs, lights, and other electronics, as well as large 3-phase loads and even entire buildings with substantial power demands. IEMS is enhanced with a Security System and Intelligent System services, applicable to office buildings and campuses. It operates on a Web client and mobile apps accessible online and in real time by building administrators.

In addition to IEMS, Telkom University also has an environmentally friendly incinerator system called Telurator. Originating from combustion system research, Telkom University innovated a burning system with a vortex system in the chamber and a cyclone in the chimney system, ensuring complete combustion and controlled smoke emissions to prevent pollution. Another advantage of this product is its ability to burn wet waste with up to 70% water content, resulting in minimal residual ash, environmental friendliness, and low operational costs.
